ALWAYS wear eye protection.

• Place the geode inside a sock or wrap it in a towel and gently tap with a hammer until it breaks (this typically results in multiple fractured pieces).
• Secure the geode in a vise or hold it firmly between two solid objects and gently tap around the center seam until it splits.
• For a cleaner, more controlled break, consider using a wet saw.

Take your time and use controlled, gentle strikes — the reveal is part of the experience.
